In a surprising collaboration that defies traditional forecasts, the game developer has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Adventure Revealed

According to the official release, "A strange meeting draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where hints of prohibited practices and fearsome transformations reverberate through the obscurity." The narrative features a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a clandestine cult.

The questline concentrates on "bizarre trials and a monstrous adversary" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Metamorphoses

The teaser highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer concludes with a powerful sequence showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Extra Content

Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an unique katana in addition to multiple objects hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Exclusive implements
• Survey Corps vehicle

Latest Free Story Update

This patch also adds the game's newest complimentary story addition, titled "The Enigma." This humorous adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive techniques: Naoe debuts a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime franchises. The series formerly included a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally included a quest that clearly echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
